The eastern-most province of Mondulkiri is truly one of the last unexplored frontiers in Cambodia. Mondulkiri means “Meeting of the Hills” is the largest of Cambodia's provinces yet has a population of only about 50,000, most of who are Phnong and Khmer. The area is scattered with hill tribes, brimming with waterfalls and rich in picturesque scenery and lush tropical forests. This remote area is little visited by tourists due to its location but with slight improvements in the roads it is becoming more accessible.
Nestled amongst rolling hills, green meadows and lush forests lies Sen Monorom, the capital of Mondulkiri province, a small laid back town. Life takes on a slower pace here in Sen Monorom and everyone seems more gentile and easy going. The small market in the centre of town is the hub of the community where buying and selling is a major part of everyday life.
